Yep....and then it all went ooops!

So about a week ago a new lump showed up on my neck next to my throat. Right away I thought "well it's just another lump and it'll go away". By Monday I knew it wasn't just going away and I called Hershey.

It's my thyroid. My lab work for had just come in to Hershey over the weekend and it showed my TSH at .03. The reference range is .35 - 5.50. They think that the Interferon has kicked my thyroid out of whack. So off I went to Endocrinology.

Now everything is crazy. I guess we'll see where it goes from here.

I go back tomorrow to complete a test that was started today.

Hey....If I loose my thyroid it will still be worth it to save my liver.

I'm still UD.

So, you're hyper-thyroid? It's strange that this didn't happen until after you finished treatment. I hope you can get this under control soon and get back on the road to recovery.

Good Morning, sorry to hear about your thyroid, happy to hear that you are still UND, that is worth the hell you went through. I hope whatever is wrong with your thyroid can be corrected with medication.
I had read that the medication could affect your thyroid. I thought once stopping sx would stop or start to get better. I am having joint pains so am being tested for Arthritis and Lupus, I think the Peg can bring things on that might have come up later in life. I am happy to hear from you. Trying to build myself back up for the next fight to "slay the dragon" No one was more surprised than me, I responded so fast and stayed UND until about 5 weeks after my last shot. Then it all came back and went from 0 to 4M in 5 weeks. The doctor said that is why I am feeling bad and that I will feel better.
Have a great weekend

Iris,

Yes that's what Hershey said, but my Thyroid counts where fine up until my 4 week post blood work.

At least these symptoms are easier to handle than tx! I just have to live a little while with the enternal furnace that makes me hot and I have to pay more attention to my rapid heart beat so that I can increase my Beta Blocker.

Oh yeah and the fatigue from it....blahhhh....But I think that might get better once I figure out the right dosage of propanolol. I've been on this drug for so many years that I'm a pro at recongnising the right dosage.

This won't be too bad to work through.

I'm just glad that Hershey stopped them from killing off my Thyroid all together. There's still a light at the end of the tunnel!

Dorene,

They said that if it's going to come back that it will come back within the first 6 months of finishing tx. Boy it's a toss of the coin isn't it?
I wish I could send you a life raft so that you could take a break out of the current for a little while.

Hang in there! Stay strong.
