Day 298

Yep it's Saturday morning and I know I took Interferon last night.

Outside of getting the Christmas tree up today, I think this will be a couch weekend.

On a positive note, after more than a full week of having a gigantic painful abscess lump on the back of my head, it finally decided to relieve it's pressure yesterday (trying not to be gross) and this morning it feels more like a sore spot than an angry little drummer boy with a pick axe. Thank God I was actually able to sleep on my back last night!

What do I have.....5 more shots to go......37 days.

I'm getting closer.

Have a Nice Weekend everyone.

Dear Laurie, do you get the Parade magazine in your Sunday paper? There is an article about something called MRSA and it used to only affect people in the hospital, it is a type of staph infection which starts as a bump, boil or what some people think is a spider bite. It is now affecting people who have not been in the hospital, like another new Bug called C-Diff. Please read it if you can, it can invade healthy people's bodies, I can only imagine what it can do to ours on tx. take care of your self, get lots of rest, do I sound like a Mom? Well I am a Mom so it is natural I would worry about someone I care so much for
Have a great weekend, hope the Peg is kind to you. Are you on half shots?

Dorene,

What I'm getting are just a subcunateous abscess from too many drugs, a low running WBC with dry skin and probably too much scratching. Of course the Augmentin from my local Hospital probably didn't help at all (the assholes).

If it where MRSA then I would be getting worst and not better. It would have also spread by now.

Mine seem to flare up, become large and painful as hell and then drain and heal. (gross I know...sorry)

If it where MRSA they wouldn't do that, they'd continue to get worst and probably spread. I also would have run a fever....I haven't.

It does sound a lot like what I get...but mine heal.

Thanks for thinking about me though. :)

I think that after reading up on MRSA I'll probably be like Munk and I'll take my hand sanitizer to the Hospital with me! It sounds like a really nasty staff infection. That's the last thing that I need right now expecially since my body seems to be seeking this type of thing out with my low running immune system.

Take care my friend...hope you're feeling better!

Good Morning Laurie, I read that you have to use soap and water to kill these "super bug" I hope you don't mind me letting you know, it is the Mom in me. My sister almost died from C-Diff about 6 weeks ago and she was healthy and didn't have any of the risk factors except she worked an and admin office at a hospital we think a doctor didn't wash his hands and she got the spores from either shaking his/her hands or it can also live on a hard surface for 70 days and can only be killed by bleach. You are right Augmentin is a terrible drug. I am so glad to hear that you are healing
Lots of good thoughts and love coming your way

p.s. this is funny, my word verification today is trial

Hi Laurie! You are so close to being done. I can't wait to hear how you feel 6wks or less after you finish. I bet you will on cloud nine! There really is life after tx. I wish I would have had better luck for me. I asked about which group I was in and she said they had not been told but she would ask about it. We went through a lot of my charts and as it shows they had to adjust my levels just after 4wks so I never could get the full dose. She said I should try again in a year or 2 but I'll be 57 by then...do I really want to do that. Well at least I will have time to think about it. I very happy you are hanging in there and can see the end. Hugs Rosie

Hey Rosie!

Bet you where on the same dosages that I was. From the sound of it you started crashing right around the same time that I did. By around week 9 I started the Procrit and Nuepogen and then around week 10 I wound up with the blood transfusion.

57 is not too late to treat. Terry was right around that age when he started and I know that he's happy that he did. Now look at him! He's been traveling the world for the past couple of months and he feels great!

Nice thing about the second go around would be that they'll know what rescue drugs you're going to need before you start. They'll be able to watch you closely and put you on them at the first signs.

Let us know when you hear about the arm you where on.

Take Care Rosie.
