Day 168

All went very good at the hearing yesterday. Now we just wait for the Referee's decision to come in the mail. I'm 99.9% sure that we won hands down. So yesterday was a good day. Note to whoever - when quitting a job to go to nursing school, don't just quit and think you collect unemployment by making up bogus lies! You will wind up embarrassed!

Woke up this morning feeling pretty good even though I was up and down a bit last night. Of course the security alarm beep beepin' at 4 and 5 am didn't help anything.

I worked on more of the plotting for the building front this morning and off to work I go.

Hope the day stays nice to me!

Have a Happy Tuesday!!

Things do seem to be going better now that your body has purged all of that nasty study drug out of itself. Will you find out how much of it you took on Thursday?
Quack, quack!

I am glad you have potentially won your case, congrats! And also that you are feeling bettr. My side effects are still suprising me although I did thorough research before teh shot Friday.

I was fatigued at work today and each time after taking riba I become pretty queasy afraid to look at any food.

I also have developed an ongoing need to clear my throat and it is irritated, but I've had worst sore throats.

(I also had a coughing attack on Sunday that lasted quite a while, right after the horrendous dry heaves.

I had just recovered from that episode when a deep itch grabbed my throat and so began the coughing episode) and the need to clear my throat every minute or so. After the coughing ended, my nose was runny and I had begun to run a mild fever. My temperature has been 99.5 to 99.7 since Friday.

Have a great Wednesday!

Thanks Terry and Iris! I'm trying hard! :)

Iris I probably won't find out about the study drug until I go for the 6 month PCR after tx. While we are done taking the study drug the study itself is still going on until all of us are done with tx. Then they have to compile the data before they unblind the study to our doctors. My Doctor say's that takes a while.

Quack quack :)

Lisa,

I did what you did before starting. I researched and researched and I even traveled to NY to meet Terry, Iris and Teah who had been on or through tx themselves. They helped me beyond words.

But nothing could really prepare me for that first shot!

They teach me many many tricks though!

First and most important is that in order to take the Ribavirin you have to eat something very fatty. The drug attaches to fat and moves out of your stomache much fast with it.

Take the riba with anything fatty...Ice cream, toast with loads of real butter...anything fatty.

Another trick is to eat half of something fatty, take the pills and then eat the of other half....stick the pills in the middle of the meal.

I hate to tell you about the fatigue. It doesn't get better. It actually get a bit worst. The only way that I know how to manage it is to listen to it. Don't push. Go slow and sleep all that you can. Reserve your energy as much as possible.

If you don't listen to the fatigue and you push too hard your body will make you pay for it later! I know, I've paid many times!

The drugs also dry you out incrediably. I use a saline nose spray for my sinus' whenever it starts getting to me. It helps put some moisture into my sinus'.

You also have to drink more water than you ever thought possible. Drink water all the time! Stay away from caffeine as it robs the water from your body. You need to start drinking all the water that you can and it might help your skin later on down the road when the itchy's start.

I run a slight fever most of the time also. There's a war going on in your body and the slight fever is from all of that action.

I try not to pay attention to it anymore unless it hits 101. If it starts to go high like that there's a good chance that I'm getting a bacterial infection and I have to call the Doc. to let her know. Usually she'll start me antibiotics right away.

This road is long and hard....but we're doing it.

Congratulations on getting through your first shot.

Hang in there!

Our thoughts are with you!

((Hugs))
